Our Focus
Adding value through a strategic breeding program and management techniques
This results in quality breeding stock that can add length, width, and height to the Katahdin frame. We optimize our breeding program for a balanced finished product to add value in a registered and commercial flocks.
Why
Katahdins
Low Maintenance
Katahdin’s require little hands-on care throughout the year. They are a hair breed removing the need for shearing. Ewes usually lamb on their own and produce an excess of milk for their lambs. Katahdins can be pastured year round including the ability to lamb on pasture.
High Prolificacy
Katahdin’s generally have one to three lambs from per pregnancy. We lamb out of season, with most of our lambs being born in the winter, and average 1.8+ lambs per ewe. It is possible to have more than one lambing in one year with proper management.
Versatile
Katahdins can succeed in a variety of climates and conditions with the ability to grow a winter coat and forage on multiple legumes and grass varieties. This adaptability has made the Katahdin breed to become very popular in North America.
Services
We offer three primary solutions for a variety of needs
Replacement Ewes and Rams
Our strategic breeding program produces quality sheep. The addition of these to existing flocks or use as seed flocks strengthens the overall genetics builds a solid foundation for years.
Homesteading Starter Flocks
We offer a limited number of starter flocks for homesteading efforts each year. These flocks include 3-5 ewes and a breeding ram. The flocks are paired each year for sound genetics and production of the flock. This provides you with the opportunity to raise your own livestock for food or sale.
Grass Fed Lamb
With supply chain issues and uncertainty in meat production we offer peace of mind. Our lambs are primarily grass fed and are given the utmost care. This provides natural tasting meat, without steroids or growth hormones.
